That wasn't Bay's doing, it was a mistake by the subtitle guy that was suppose to be fixed, but they didn't fix it.

Wrongo. It was supposedly an oversight for the movie's theatrical release, but after the DVD came out and it still wasn't corrected, Bay then went on record saying that the name is Devastator because he likes it better. Essentially, he confirmed it wasn't a mistake at all as much as it was a deliberate choice on his part.

So the point remains the same; he can and probably will call this movie whatever he wants regardless of what Hasbro confirms the title to be in the interim. That seems to be the power he has, contractual or otherwise, while he's in charge of making these movies.
