Yes, indeed... a sad chapter in transformers history. Robots in Disguise using oversized human shells to disguise themselves in public as opposed to transforming into ordinary cars, sigh...

I liked the pretenders idea they have there nitch and would have possibly fit better if the Japanese g1 story had been broadcast here in North America to fit them in better.....

Yeah, I'll concede that the japanese did a better job with the concept as opposed to Marvel Comics.

Diaclone Old - big humans piloting small robots
Diaclone New - small humans piloting big robots.
G1 MTMTE - small humans, big robots piloting themselves
A Prime Problem - big robot turned into alligator.
Autobot X - small human, turned into big robot (pilots big robot turned small)
G1 Post '86.1 - big robots turned into small humans piloting big robots (themselves)
G1 Post '86.2 - small humans turned into small robots piloting big robots piloting themselves
Pretenders - small robots piloting big humans
there's some twists and turns

I love the Pretender idea for Decepticons as Monsters. It doesn't work so well with the Autobots and humans, unless you go to another planet where the humanoid beings are roughly the same size as Transformers like they did in the Marvel comics.
If they do ever include Pretenders in the Generations line, and use humans for Autobots, it would be nice if they throw in some diversity.
