Man, I gotta get out more. Damn kids...
Yeah, I think it just opened a couple years ago. Less stuff at the top than Grouse being it's not a ski resort, but there's a restaurant/cafe/gift shop and all that jazz. Lucky for my buddies and I it was there, because we went expecting a 2-3 hour hike and it took us more like 5 to get to the top. Possibly because we took unecessary detours, but hey, we didn't really know, lol. Plus they're not really experienced hikers (one had to turn back), so the tram saved us lol.

Anyone else bringing kiddos to R&R? (JJ?) I was hoping to make it to this one alone, but it turns out husband is working on Sunday, so I have to bring bitlet.

I'll be at my son's Scout Troop wrap-up carnival in Richmond so I'm passing on R&R this year.

I'll be the one manning the golf put game. Local cybertron.ca members get 4 trys instead of 3 plus a bonus high five if you get a hole in one.

Sorry, scouting badge is extra.

IMO ascent to the 2nd Peak of the Chief in Squamish is much more enjoyable. Chain ladders near the top are cool and it's a trip to peer over the edge of the cliff face.

Mind you there's beer at the top of The Grind so that's the one saving grace.

Oh...and gal friends, plural? What are you a shiek with a harem or something, Darth?

Beer is a nice bonus I suppose, but don't they have that on the Chief now too? Howe Sound Brewing is right down in town too. I ALSO did the Chief (second peak? The one that has a tram now) and I agree, it was much more enjoyable. There's much more scenery, the trail doesn't look like an apocalyptic landscape barren of all greenery, you're not constantly dodging trail runners, and jackasses don't leave their garbage all over the trail. Plus, less inappropriately old/young people because there's a lot more time for them to realize they can't handle it before it's too late to turn back.

I'm guessing these are gal friends he's hoping to turn into a girlfriend. More girls=more chances? Haha. I dunno, I can go hiking anytime but RnR only happens twice a year. Sadly we booked Victoria stuff before I was paying attention to the date for this show and it was too late to change plans. But toys will still happen, mark my words!! Hopefully Cherry Bomb has some new stuff since April.
It will be my first time doing the Grind. We'll see. I don't have a car so I am used to walking and jogging all the time (translink is also a big help when they fail to run the bus and train so I get more exercises). But I won't try to be a hero.

Ya...3 gals. We may go hike the Chief next month. Maybe on my bday weekend.

Wear light runners with good support and grip (not too tight and hiking boots are overkill) , bring lots of water. Either in a small backpack or in holsters. Trust me, anything in your hand you'll want to toss within 10 minutes. Think of this as the world's longest outdoor Stairmaster.

Take pictures at the beginning and at the end. Fuck pictures during...there's nothing to see and you won't be in the mood anyways plus you'll be in the way of psychos that run up in less than 40 minutes. It usually took me an hour to an hour and a half. Screw going down on the trail unless you hate your knees.

If you're when you're done go to the legenday Tomahawk for a mountainous platter of Yukon-style back bacon, eggs and hashbrowns just to say "fuck you" to the torturous workout you endured.

Bowchickawowow. ROFL.

Going down the Grind is actually prohibited for safety reasons. You have to take the tram or go down the parallel BCMC trail to come back.

All good advice from JJ. Also if you're inexperienced and especially if you've never been hiking before, give yourself plenty of time. My girlfriend and I took about 2.5 hours, stopping to take a rest lots of times, and we hike semi-regularly.

Second the Tomahawk recommendation! Only been once but I loved it. I'm a sucker for old-school diners.

I have pretty good running and outdoor sport gears. But yeah, hiking boots would be overkill in this hot dry weather. I'll just wear my current adidas Supernova running shoes.

I don't know who else thinks this way, but I always thought Stan Bush's The Touch has high level of innuendo.

Hahaha. The title was the worst part of that.

I'm sure someone's done it. Pun intended.
