It might not be much different from the G1 gestalts being able to combine with Metroplex/Trypticon.
Like the gestalt mini-bots could be plugged into Metroplex -- be careful - I twisted off AirRaid's head doing this -- and Onslaught and Motormaster could be placed as base extensions on Trypticon.
But someone with both can figure out the Optimus-Omega thing... I'm curious...

maybe they mean that Prime's arm/leg drones can connect to Omega Supreme like mini-cons?

Is no one from the TF Energon erra?? Combined mode for prime and omega is the flap that holds omega's head folds down, and the main prime body fits in omega's chest allowing the prime head (w/super mode helmet) to stick out. Then there are ports all around omega's body to attach the drones.

I think most of us have done a good job of forgetting Energon even existed, or at least that it was a bad dream.
