Re: Ontario non sightings community chat.

Consumers distributing would be terrible for collectors. You fill out a card and hand it in and they fulfill your order by picking the figure for you. They're not going to look over for defects, damaged packaging for the misb/mosc collectors like me and if they don't have that figure they will just send out any that they have on hand and say it is pretty much the same thing as what you ordered which happened to me many times when buying from consumers distributing. It just would not work for collectors at all, it would be a nightmare.

I think TRU need to change it's online business model. How many times have I seen, or heard of, a figure being in stores, but it's not online? Great current example, POTP Optimus Prime! It's not on TRU's web site last I checked.
They also need to start doing pre-orders. No offense to any of our sponsor online stores, but some your prices are crazy. I understand why, but I'm not paying $25 for a deluxe, plus shipping. If I could pre-order from TRU, at regular retail price, I'd have already done it for a few of the wave two POTP figures.
Yes, we know comic book stores pricing for regular Hasbro TFs can be a little pricey. But to be fair, they usually buy it from a different supplier, and they can't get the margin anywhere near TRU's/WM's level of buying power. Comic stores also carry newer/different packaging versions of toys too, that either TRU or WM may or will never carry (such as the comic book backed deluxes or CW Groove in recent years). The prices in that instance, are a little more justified.

I'm sure we take it for granted how convenient it is so just go for a TRU/WM run, while other collectors in Canada live nowhere near any of them, and have to resort to local comic book stores or the TRU/WM website as an only source to shop.

Well while TRU Canada is still around (for now), it might not hurt the next time you visit your favourite store and interact with an employee to tell them you love them

Local specialty e-tailers should never bother with domestic releases in the first place.

Haha, think of all those marvel legends figures you see on shelves with issing build a figure components or just switched outright. With the model you propose, that would still be around, but you would have to wait for your order to arrive to realize that something is missing, or has been switched.

Unless of course, these online retailers do not accept returns, but then you get into other problems too.

As for those online 25$ deluxes, I have met fans that dont care to hunt at all and also want their figures first and on a scheduled basis (like ordering takara figures from japan) so they are happy to pay more to know they are getting their figures and dont have to look elsewhere. So while I dont buy from online collector stores, I can see why there is an audience for it.
