They should be good for about 5 years, after that ambient moisture will cause the batteries to corrode. Depending on the location of the battery cover, you may be able to remove them without taking the bot out of the inner packing.

Yeah, I have a few Leader class MISB figures. I often wonder about that!
Hmmm..., when I am bored, maybe I should use my trusting thumb and fingers and repeatedly press the various buttons to make the figure "talk" and drain the battery.
I don't think that I will have the patience though.

Draining the batteries won't stop them from corroding.

Re: Batteries In MISB leaders etc?
I bought a MISB Optimal Optimus about 4 years ago (so about 10 years old at that point) and the batteries had leaked really bad inside the compartment. I cleaned it all up but the connectors for the batteries were rusted and the plastic in the battery compartment was discolored.

Re: Batteries In MISB leaders etc?
I just dug out my pizza shooter recently and it looked like someone had thrown up pizza in the battery compartment.
But it's been in storage for at least 15 years, so I think it was a slightly different situation.

Re: Batteries In MISB leaders etc?
My power toothbrush was sitting out in the open for months, I went to check it and the batteries had just corroded. I needed a new one anyway.
Never let the batteries stay in a figure too long if you aren't going to use it or open it up.
Kind of makes me wonder if I should be worried about picking up that Shadow Blade Megatron from Galaxy now... I believe he was MISB and he did come with batteries too. Hmmm.

Really wish these guys had those plastic strips that you'd have to pull from the compartment instead if the "try me now" function, or even batteries packed separatly if they want em included at all...

Re: Batteries In MISB leaders etc?
I don't HasTak ever intended for these figures to remain MISB for extend periods of time.
I've lucked out and only had one minor issue with an energon scorponok that I saved from the clutches of a spoiled child.
