Re: 2012 TFCon Charity Project

Got a break in the schoolwork where I could actually start fiddling around and getting some digibashes done. Went through a bunch of figures trying to find one I liked the results from, thought I'd post what I figured were the top two results so far:

First from DOTM Crankcase:

My main concern is that even though I'd intend to remove the dreads from the figure it might still look too movieverse to fit with classics. That being said it still really screams Inferno to me.

Second from Generations Darkmount:

Let me know what you think, or if you have suggestions for another figure I might not have thought of.

I agree, go with crankcase.

The deviation from "classics" is justified for that sweet result. Make sure to use that glossy candy red! Yum!

Have you thought about using HTFD Axor for Inferno?

Dang son. Crankcase in metallic red BECOMES inferno. I say go with that, it'll go well next to my tarantulas (rotf sideswipe). The vehicle mode will fit in nicely with the classics look. Also if you want a little less "movie" feel do as I'm doing and smooth out the bot mode before you paint it up (and get an old BW inferno head)

I wish I had your skill with digibashes. Again, awesome.

Re: 2012 TFCon Charity Project

That Crankcase as Inferno is just jaw dropping! Who'd have thought? The giant mandibles just scream fire ant! The fact that they can be deployed in vehicle mode makes it all the better.

Don't worry about the movie aesthetic here, it actually lends itself very well to Inferno. The insectoid look of the movie line really goes a long way in pushing the homage. I was playing around with the idea of DOTM Skyhammer as Inferno, but this is much better!

Even Crankcase's mechtech weapon looks a lot like Inferno's iconic flamethrower. You've struck gold here, bud. Oh, and don't worry about the head. It actually kinda looks like transmetal Scavenger's head, and let's face it, he was supposed to be Inferno anyway.

I think you single handedly sold me on Crankcase, because I wanna go out and buy him right now!

Between the two I really like that Crankcase - and like Obakemono said, you can always smooth out some of the details to make it more classic like.

The other weapon I was also thinking that visually really seems to harken back to the toy's weapon was DOTM Deluxe Topspin's Mechtech weapon:

Or just give him both! He had two guns, after all.

Re: 2012 TFCon Charity Project

@strag, my vote's for crankcase.
try using green putty to fill in and smooth out alot of the movie details.
topspins weapon looks almost bang on,just maybe remove the pinchers if you can.
