Re: TF CON reviews, reports, picture links etc.

I just got back from TFCon, after a 6 hour drive (after dealing with customs). First and foremost, this con was pretty amazing for my first Transformers convention. Though, it is very different then what I am use to with conventions. I expected a lot more programming. I found that my group and I were in our hotel room because of the lack of programming. Possibly add a video room or two to help entertain your attendees that are paying to be there? Or have a few more panels throughout the weekend? Open up panel programming to fans and let them run some to give programming some flare?

I was confused why artists were mixed up with dealers. That usually doesn't happen at anime conventions. I always think it's nice to have artists, but separate them a bit - like have the artist in that cramp hallway and keep the dealer's in the actual room. It would make browsing easier!!!! The dealer's room. OMG. The dealer's prices - how can some of you justify to buying some of that?! OMG. 90+ dollars for SDCC Terrorcon Cliffjumper?! He dropped it down to 85 on Sunday yet we're getting an official retail release of him soon. I was really excited to see the VARIETY of merchandise in the dealer's room. I couldn't tell you the last time I actually walked out of any convention dealer's room with as much stuff as I did over the weekend. Great job there! I was really impressed.

I found several people rather rude though while trying to browse the dealer's rooms. Especially those with bags, bookbags, etc... It's hard enough to walk through there, but could there be a no-bag policy in future years? I probably got a few bruises just from walking through the dealer's room the little I did both days.

The guests. THANK YOU! Thank you for getting amazing, awesome, guests who wants to be there for the fans because the fans wants them there. Each and everyone of them were so nice to each and everyone of us. I usually do not see this at anime conventions at all. And thank you Mr. McNeil for taking so much time out of your schedule to personally take care of each and everyone one of us during your autograph sessions too this weekend.

For a negative feedback, I have one bit about the Sunday cosplay contest. I was really confused with the costume competitions/contests. I thought it worked much like anime conventions do as far as the costume contests go, but the Sunday competition was a joke. I had made my costume from scratch, sewn it, put sweat, tears and blood into it. If I known I wouldn't have been "judged", I would of entered it into Saturday's contest. No one on staff really seemed to know what was going on either when I started to ask about the costume contest since I was new to this convention before the start of it. If I knew it what it turned out to be, I wouldn't even had waisted my time to show up to it. I would of rather used that time to drive home on Sunday. I just don't see the point of having a Sunday costume contest when you don't judge properly for any of the cosplays. The website didn't say anything about how dingy the Sunday contest was. Congrats though to the Hulk - that was a pretty awesome costume, which I know had to take a lot of time to construct and make. The others on the other hand... I don't know how they won. Seriously. You guys should reconsider how to do your costume contests in the future.

Side note though: Why wasn't Transformers Universe guys invited????

Other then that, it was a pretty pleasant first time experience at a Transformers convention. I am hoping I will be back in 2013.

Re: TF CON reviews, reports, picture links etc.

Finally got home and whoa, I'm exhausted.

A big shout out and thank you to the entire TFcon team, and in particular, Colin, Matt, Ian and of course, Down Shift. Well done guys.

Also, and thank you to everyone who visited us during the two days. Had some great converstaions about various topics and even learned a few things or two. (thanks again Down Shift) Had a great time but my feet are killing me. Unfortunately, I didn't get too many opportunites to leave the tables and visit any of the panels/seminars, but did hear great things about them.

Thank you for the continued support, till all are...Oops, I mean, till next year!

Cheers!

Re: TF CON reviews, reports, picture links etc.

I'm sad that TFCon is already over

This year was SUCH a blast though, this is my third time going and by far this year was most definitely the best year

Lots of great vendors, pretty much wasn't hard to find something I wanted at all.

Met a lot of new faces like Cheers Ian and Nemisis Predaking, even got had more then a few lengthy conversations with Vangelus.

Just a question though...did Alex Miline cancel? I didn't see him at all.

Re: TF CON reviews, reports, picture links etc.

Just got back home and currently sorting out all the pictures I took from TF Con this year (mostly from Saturday and a bit from Sunday). It's my second year coming to TFCon and I gotta say, this was the best TFCon experience I've had -- everything from the guests, panels, events, meeting a lot of new friends, customization class, the meetups at the bar... it was beyond all my expectations. The lineups were crazy this year especially the autograph session lineups! Panels were entertaining and informative. Live TFW@TFW Podcast was awesome. I came in late for customization class but managed to finish my custom TFCon Hurricane in time thanks to Stu, Duncan, Eric and everyone else at the class. It was a blast doing it and I highly recommend to give it a try if you can get a chance next year. Really had an amazing time and really looking forward to next year!

I'll be posting some more pictures later on, but here's some of them for your viewing pleasure.

Special shout outs go to:

Prime73, BigFilipino, MatrixHolder, Talon4ce, Vangelus, Peaugh, Gogdog, Aaron, Protoman, Nemesis Predaking, Dak, Plowking, General Tekno, SuperMegatron and the rest of the TFCon staff and volunteers, and everyone else I've met this weekend (sorry, too many names to list!)

Being a veteran in the anime convention circuit and being the first to this con, I agree with some of your points. They should open the open the programming to fans to run as well. I know many cons that do that. I didn't understand the hallway plus the room for both the artists and the dealers either, but I didn't mind the mingling. At Anime North you will find many artists in the dealers room plus at an artist area.

Though, a no bag policy? What cons do you go to? What are some going to put all their merch in on their heads? It isn't the bag problem, it's more people leaving them out in walkways and my greatest pet peeve that I have about anime cons too, is the lack of people knowing to go one way instead of walking towards traffic. I think this con should of implented a exit and entrance to the main dealers room.

Though...I've noticed it doesn't work when it comes to people not knowing which way traffic should be going, or stopping to talk in the middle of traffic.

As for the costume contest. I couldn't wear Sunny up to 4 on Saturday to go, but I did watch it and instead of competition( which it doesn't state it is in the first place) it was more a good, old fun. So I was glad I didn't participate Sunny, but I didnt mind the layout or production of it.

I think you are being too hypocritical. This isn't an anime event, it will run differently. This was more of a gathering, celebration of collectors. Not a full blown convention. It sounds like you held your exceptions too high and got disappointed.

I enjoyed it immensely. Added my new Starscreams to my collection found out I forgot I had a couple so now I got doubles, but I have 132 total. >.> lottsa screamers

Um...not all people have cars. Although I had a room, when I checked out this morning, I had to take my bags with me to the convention room. fortunately I have a friend with a booth so I was able to stow my stuff there. Also people carry bags to store their loot. It is admittedly very difficult to try to keep track of everyone everywhere while moving through the convention. Even with my purse (small backpack) I occasionally may bump into a person.

Tf con is like a big family get together. I've been going for about 8 years now. It does get crowded.

Yes, unfortunately, Alex tried to make time to attend, but work obligations kept him from being able to do that, so he had to cancel late. He will try again next year.

I don't know any conventions that have a no bag policy, it makes like zero sense.
