Yes, lets go ahead and start generalizing everything about movies based on someone's appreciation of Avatar. I didn't like it, therefore, I must not have liked the Transformers films or Broken Lizard movies any other of my favourites... Seriously?
Avatar was awesome in the way it was imagined and presented. It sucked in the way story and to me, a movie without a story is just a flashy flic. ROTF was just a flashy flic, but I liked it. Avatar was just a flashy flic and I didn't like it. Forget Pocahontas, it's a generalized story of an "evil" man who discovers something awesome and turns against the people who have trained him and thought him all he knows... i.e. same story as half of the action movies Hollywood as ever produced.
Bottom line, they should both be nominated for worst story.

Might have been too simple in fact... heheh.

You know, I could probably analyze your life or even my own a similar way. One can easily find "flaws" in just about everything when that's what you're after no matter what. People are often overthinking what's really simple.

Re: ROTF leads the way in Razzie nominations
im just saying why cant people enjoy a movie for being just that. a movie. made to entertain you.
sure you can see similarities with dances with wolves and pocahontas etc etc. but who cares. the movie was ground breaking for the animation. i have never been sucked into a story before as i did with avatar. like someone else said that i work with he went with his wife and she said "it wasnt like a movie. it made me feel like i was visiting friends and now i wont see them again for a very long time." i literally had the jitters during avatar i guess it the only way to discribe it. skin was tingly during parts. felt like i was ready to freak out. or cry or whatever i dont know. and ive never had that happen ever in a movie. like i said sucked me right into it. and i feel thats what a movie should do. transport you to another place. like people say when they read a really good book. it takes you to their world / another place. leave the regular world behind for a while.
people take movies different ways. some people write them off cause its too much like another story (been done before) etc etc. everyone enjoys them for their own reasons or doesnt. but they are the ones paying the money to see it so who gives a rats ass if someone else didnt and you did.
just like reading the reviews in the paper about new movies. IMO. the reviewers dont know their asses from a hole in the ground. and here in toronto. most of the guys doing the reviewing are so bloody old that they probably were adults when gone with the wind came out originally. so......
they need to get some younger reviewers that like the younger type of movies. IMO.
but again like movies if you like them if you dont then dont.
but ya the broken lizard movies are hilarious. lol super troopers i never get tired of.

^^
Man I guess it's responses like that which lead to the post-avatar depression that's being written about. I'm super glad I'm anti-social enough not to develop relationships in my mind with things I see on a screen. Kinda freaky actually, like that guy in highschool who stalks the hot girl and develops a fantasy world around it.

Re: ROTF leads the way in Razzie nominations
Man Megan Fox is going to RULE this year's Razzies.
It's a shame, she was so hot before the surgery (She had 5 unspecifiied augmentations after TF 2007). We can all guess what those 5 were anyhow. I mean look at her months before the debut of TF 2007....... sigh....
She went from sexy girl next door, to everyday porn star. I mean it's still hot, but it's not the same thing.

She got her nose lips and tits done for sure, but I think she looked better before really.
Her botoxed up lips make her look like a clown and her nose looks kinda dumb now. Who can argue with a boob job though
I guess not everyone can be born with perfection though *sigh*
