UPS is usually a bad idea. The seller would typically try to save a few dollars and use UPS ground instead of air. And UPS ground is garanteed to cause you to pay brokerage fees.

One trick I can recommend with UPS is not to pay Custom fees through UPS. If you have a Customs office not to far, get the the customs paper from UPS and head over to the Customs office and pay it. You'll be paying for the Customs fees and spare the brokerage fees. I'm lucky enough to have the Customs office a couple of blocs away from the UPS office so I save on that.

The other trick I recommend with UPS is don't use it. USPS takes a bit longer but it's always cheaper. Even if you get dutied.

a little follow up: it's been 3 weeks as of today...and nothing yet. should i be getting worried?! i bought the TF off of a guy on tfw2005 (who has lots of positive feedback)...

It might have arrived but is still sitting at the post or delivery office. I've had a couple of packages come on a Friday but were not delivered or not available for pickup until the following Monday. For some reason Canada Post gets especially retarded on Fridays this way, probably a half day

Most of the stuff I've bought from US sellers will usually arrive within 3 weeks of shipping date. But I am now at just under 2 months on another package, I'm starting to get a little worried on that one.

I think it is to be expected that packages takes longer these days. There's more packages being shipped into canada from the states due to the dollar being so high. Lots of people order from the US. So more packages to inspect. So longer delays.

is there any way to find out if a package IS stuck at customs? or do they deal with so many that they cant say?
