What I think y'all are overlooking is that the Canadian dollar is not strong right now. It's doing a little under par. The reason it's worth more than the American dollar is because the greenback is very weak.

Track down the October 8th issue of MacLean's to see a good article on what this might really mean. The U.S. is heading for a recession. Canada would be in recession if it weren't for oil. We are now making 20% less money on: cars, wheat, beef, lumber, electricity, and yes, even oil; because 70% of our exports go to the U.S. And when the Yanks collapse, we won't be making even that.

This dollar is good for people who buy things directly from the U.S. It's bad for everyone else. Take advantage of it, but be prepared for the fallout, too.
