Buzzworthy Bumblebee Kup

Buzzworthy Bumblebee Kup is the NEW flinty old warrior. I got him only as a surprise birthday gift. I was perfectly fine with my Studio Series 86' versions. My wife thought that was "too busy looking". So, is the new guy that much better?* Looks like it's time for the ole' side-by-side analysis!

Why? I dunno,. I mean, this guy was significantly more expensive than the SS and for what...exactly? I follow my wife's advice lol, but I can't say I agree with her. I planned all along to keep the SS. This was a fluke birthday gift. new is NOT always better lol.

He looks way better. Way better deco. The chest for sure. I like it a lot more.

I guess cost is a thing, but if you try to buy SS86 Kup NOW he's $38 dollars. Obviously BWBB Kup costs 42.99 because TRU sucks. But the price difference isn't as big as it once was.

I'm with you. I way prefer Buzzy Kup. SS86 I thought the engineering was great, but the colour and aesthetic choices bugged me. I always hated that transparent chest. It made him look too skinny and same-y for colours.

Buzzy Kup corrects my main concern while keeping that great engineering for the transformation. Yeah, the new prices and TRU jacking up sucks (I bought it in a lot of five deluxes from HasbroPulse to take the sting) but this is the SS86 Kup that should have come out in the first place, IMHO.

I don't recall the exact post but that one Hasbro designer posting all the awesome behind the scenes design info basically apologized for not doing ss86 Kup the way they ended up doing bwbb.

Yeah, I read that too It was like bwbb was a "do-over" chance for Kup.

I think the same designer talked about how TT wanted the darker chest piece on Grimlock. Talk about another weird design choice!

Yeah, something like ... late in the game they kind of decided things. There was a mention that, with Slag, they fully knew what lane they were in and with Grim were still somewhat figuring it out. *shrug*

Back to the review. There is a lot of nitpicking about the exact shade and it's odd to me. You can't nitpick the colorson BWBB and then be like, yeah, well, the wrong deco and translucent window don't work either. I dunno.

Re: Buzzworthy Bumblebee Kup

My SS86 is fine. Paid $30 at Gamestop. Bbkup at $43 just isn't worth it. Paint job isn't $13 better. Instead I put thar $13 toward something I don't already have...ss86 Spike. If the bbKup paint is more toon accurate, ghry should have just released that version from the getgo.
