Could There Be Only One (Powermaster)?
"Highlander" reference aside, I'm currently wrestling with my recent obsession with Powermasters/Super God Masterforce. DVDs are on their way and reissue Hasbro PM Prime with Apex Armor recently acquired and looking badass on my bookshelf.
Thought I was content with just God Ginrai when suddenly the opportunity to pickup both G1 Darkwing and Dreadwind, complete and in decent condition arises and now the filthy completist in me wants more more more.
Should Prime be enough? I know I won't be going nuts and buying Overlord or Black Zirack anytime soon but it's hard for me to not collect in sets. And Dreadwing seems cool enough.
Thoughts?

I don't think there is anything wrong with picking up a bot you like even if it is outside your normal collecting parameters. Besides 'coolness', convenience and opportunity factor in. It's when a guy starts buying stuff he doesn't like just to patch the holes that, IMO, leads to collectorial-dissatisfaction.

Re: Could There Be Only One (Powermaster)?
Hey jj, I know where you're at. I had PMOP since I was 4 and never had another Power Master. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago I caved and bought Dreadwind and Darkwing and really dug them. Then I caved and bought two of the Autobots -- not really worth it. Getaway is in the comics, but that's really not enough to justify it. After getting him I felt my display was off balance -- so I grabbed Joyride who is... underwhelming. I never bothered with Slapdash.
Never been too interested in Doubledealer, as I don't care for his aesthetics.
If they reissue Overlord I'll be all over that action.

Absolutely! I have heard that ROTF Prime and Buster Prime are great toys, but could never bring myself to buy them.
I bought evasion mode prime for one of my kids because I wanted to see what is was like. I have to admit, it is a decent toy.
Maybe that's a good litmus test. If curious, buy it and give it to the kid(s)?

Re: Could There Be Only One (Powermaster)?
In this case there can be 2 - Highlander 2
I would go for this as a complimentry figure, VICTORY LEO
and then you can get g1 perceptor, other complimentry figure is Starsabre, and sixshot, double dealer and so on and so on
Had DW he was a good figure, more related to the comics for me, were as God ginra is Japanese god master collection

Re: Could There Be Only One (Powermaster)?
Powermaster Prime is the only G1 toy I ever played with as a kid, and thought he was cool at the time. Then I discovered modern TFs as an adult and of course think that G1 toys are bricks (lol, no offence to vintage lovers!) But I did go back and pick up that reissue PMOP with Apex Armor. Just had to have it in my collections for nostalgia's sake. So far I have resisted the urge to buy other reissues and vintage figures. Focus on what you love, money and space can run out fast.

There can certainly BE more than 1, but there doesn't Have to.
PM Prime is tres cool. The other Autobots not so much. I agree with whoever said Double Dealer doesn't look that great.
I also felt the Dreadwind combine mode only looked like 2 jets combined; not over cool.
So in the whisper-voice words of Connor McLeod,
"You seek the Power. But you've got the Prime. I Dread how you slapDash into danger.
But there's no going back now, for the doubleDeal's done."

Re: Could There Be Only One (Powermaster)?
Thanks guys. I'll be sticking with my PM OP then likely pickup MP Star Saber unless Victory turns out unwatchable (as I've heard some people describe it). Darkwing and Dreadwind will have to find someone else to take them home.
