You have a very good point. To each their own but when I was single I generally had no interest in being friends with women that I was interested in romantically. Sure, they could potentially introduce you to their girlfriends but there's nothing worse than getting lumped into the friendship category when you want more than that. It's a different situation all together if you develop feelings for a woman that you are already friends with but to settle for friendship after one date doesn't seem like you're being fair to yourself. Besides, I'm sure that you already have plenty of other friends that are more worthy of you time and effort.

Re: Date Night
Like I said, every time I come here even after a bad at work, an argument with a family member or a bad date, it makes me feel better to talk to my fellow Canadians also my fellow Transformers fans.

Re: Date Night
Honestly, I wouldn't even bother talking to that girl anymore, even as friends. To me, it seems pretty clear that she backed out when she found out the OP wasn't attractive (not to her anyway), and that's just how things work. Like mentioned earlier though, at least she was honest & didn't string him along until somebody better showed up the way a lot of women tend to do because they know they can.

She's just not that into you.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on.

Re: Date Night
I think you came on too strongly. But in the end it makes sense. She doesn't want to be friends with you because you want more then a friend with her. Clearly, she rather not be with you because you'll make the friendship awkward, strange and unwelcoming.
I wouldn't want to be around a man or woman even as friends if they kept either trying to get into my pants or try to get me to date them. Talk about annoying. Friendship only really works when there is boundaries.

rofl.
Mate - sounds like you're trying too hard. You're not missing anything because you don't really know what to expect. In fact you probably shouldnt go in there expecting anything -other than to have a coffee/beer or what not. Don't even think about a relationship - actually think about not having a relationship.. makes developing a female/male friendship a lot easier and that may possibly lead to a relationship. How do you get into a relationship without getting to know someone? That whole first night -boobie/ass grabbing/kissing thing can turn into a bad situation pretty quick.

Re: Date Night
I really don't understand the concept of dating people just to get the fireworks. Just go hook up with someone who just wants that no strings attached.

Re: Date Night
its the same thing. One you go have fun with the person while on a date - and perhaps have sexy time that might be more stimulating since you've interacted with them more. I found the whole sexy time to be more fun when you work at it than the concept of going to a spot and saying hey - take off your gear and get on- but thats just me. Then again i didnt mind the whole no strings attached either...
