Certainly more red than I would have thought, especially for Afterburner. I love the red but don't believe the new chest is a significant difference. I still hate the Breakdown mold for Lightspeed. Interesting paint too for Nosecone. I am tornon this version, honestly.

The combined mode is great, pretty cartoon accurate with the color they have chosen, maybe I will bite after all, he will stay in combined mode all the time anyways. The only downside is it doesn't come with those hands and feet hasbro offered.. Some one need to ok those hands and feet..

Really down with this. The chest detail breaks up the giant blob of red so very nicely. Damn.
I have a feeling I'll end up picking up both so I can get Scrounge and the hands/feet, might possibly prefer Hasbro's Afterburner...
Somebody on TFW suggested doing a Computron swap thread since a lot of folks might be making their own perfect Compy out of both versions!

I might swap in Hasbro's Afterburner. Granted I have a feeling that the "red" Afterburner in Takara's is probably going to be more orange-ish, the Takara image looks more photoshoppy or lit weird than it is likely to be in-hand.

The color on both Computron has different shades of red which may not work.

Very true. It'll be interesting to see the final products.
Assuming CW Computron will be available from Toys R Us, and thus I can get it on sale, I think I will pick up both and see what I can make happen. Talk about Scramble City. ^^
