Halloween: Big Deal or Little Deal

With Halloween upon us I am wondering if Halloween is becoming more popular, or become less popular over the years.

For me I remember it being a big deal for me as a kid. Mind you our parents still felt safe letting us roam the streets, asking for razor blade apples and poisoned candy bars from complete strangers.

Now I think that the fun sprit of Halloween is still there, but it is just celebrated differently. I was surprised to see all of the costume shops open in LA when I was down there though...almost one beside every target devoted to selling costumes...

Any thoughts?

What do you normally do for Halloween? Should it be banned or forgotten? Where does it fit on your scale of holidays?

Meh...it's for the kids...I could care less personally for Halloween. All I know is the candy purchased for the trick or treaters is usually eaten before the 31st.

I think it kinda fluctuates....it's popular when you're a kid...then it lulls round high school...college/university years...still low when you start working....then it's fun again when you have your own kids....then they grow up, then lul....then they have kids and you can take them....

Circle of Halloween :P

....Don't make me graph this....

It's still a big deal, just we are looking at it from our adult eyes and go "meh, it was better WHEN I WAS YOUNGER" We are getting old =P

Anyhow it still can be fun, specially later on when you have kids.

I think it's a big deal... for me, anyways. Every other holiday has lost it's flair except for Halloween.

Plus, it gives those people who cross-dress a believable excuse.

Still a big deal.

All I see is posters for Halloween Socials, my co-workers all wanting to book the day off, stores full of costumes and candy and kids getting excited about trick or treating and their costumes.

It's a unofficial holiday for a lot of the masses.

Re: Halloween: Big Deal or Little Deal

Halloween was a sort of big deal for me in my college years when I would help my mom setup.

But now that I have my own house, I go all out decorating the place...this year is a biggie too seeing it's my first with my son. Obviously he won't remember it, but we'll have plenty of photos for later in life.
