Looking to get into TF Comics

Hey Everyone,

I'm in need of your thoughts and opinions. I did a google search and well this added further confusion as I still have no idea what to read.

Do you all have favorites that you have read?

Where do you purchase your comics/volumes? I will be purchusing the actual books and not online as I would like to keep them on a shelf (like I have the space)

So hopefully you can toss in your thoughts and reasons as to why you think it's that fantastic of a read.

Thanks in advance for your responses,
BoNKs

Re: Looking to get into TF Comics

Hey man,

I honestly recommend reading the current More Than Meets the Eye (MTMTE, up to 20 issues and 4 volumes) and Robots in Disguise (RID, up to 20 issues and 3 volumes), both series are going on. currently I'm reading MTMTE, the war is over and a couple of Autobots led by Rodimus are going on an adventure into space to find the Knights of Cybertron, a long lost crew that disappeared without a trace. that might sound generic but it is a fun read: characters die, time travel, evil villains, etc. If you are interested, I also recommend reading the Last Stand of the Wreckers (A 4 issue series that also can be found as a graphic novel) before reading MTMTE because they do reference things from there a lot.

If you are looking to get issue by issue, any comic shop should have Transformers comics available for purchase, I get my copies digitally from Comixology. You can also purhcase these at Amazon.ca or Indigo/Chapter store.

I too suggest getting into More Than Meets the Eyes (I think it's the more accessible of the two books myself, not that Robots in Disguise isn't excellent). If you feel like you don't get something you can probably fill in your knowledge gap with TFwiki (it's very thorough).

More Than Meets the Eyes volume 1 can be found on Amazon.ca easily.

Ive been wanting to get into the comics as well, but ive been confused as hell about them. I think ill start with the ones mentioned above. Also, can anyone tell me what Transformers : The IDW collection are? Ive seen these several times and have no idea what they are and how many volumes it has.

it's a collection of a bunch of mini-series, transformers spotlight, and i believe the 1st series of transformers from idw before it split to mtmte and rid.

Re: Looking to get into TF Comics

If you want to get into the IDW fiction as a whole than the IDW Complete Collection volumes are a great and convenient way to go. They are up to volume 8, pretty much catching you up to where RiD and MTMTE begin. I'm sure they'll continue with the volumes once they have a sizable backlog to work with.

They also have similar collections for the original and UK Marvel comics.

Re: Looking to get into TF Comics

Same here as for starting to get into the comics, I have an issue of the War Within the Dark Ages and I grabbed the Autocracy trade paperback. I think personally that is the way I'll go in regards to comics is just get big honking trade or graphic books of them and plough through them. I still have a $25 Chapter card to use on something, hmm what will it be???
