Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

Excellent list. Trying to collect MPs started to break the bank, until i decided to focus only on the numbered releases, the seekers being the only exception, and skip all of fhe G2/Diaclone repaints. It's really cut down on the stress, and the financial bleeding. Lol

In short, focusing on what you feel is really important is key.

Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

It feels kind of good to have restraint. I saw red Bumblebee and though I was used to jumping on anything that said "mp", I skipped it. So far I am skipping Thundercracker, Clampdown, and Ramjet. You gotta ask yourself if it's something special to you or if it's just another figure taking space.

We look forward to releases and it's tempting to jump on them but the whole point of the collection is to get figures that matter to you. Don't just blindly get what companies want to sell you.

Also what I did is I created a sub account in my bank called "fun fund" and every time I pre-order, I dump that amount so that I can budget around my future purchases. That fun fund is "pre-spent" money and I don't get surprises.

Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

I think I'm lucky that I'm only interested in the main Decepticon Masterpiece figures, besides MP-10. Megatron v2, Shockwave, Soundwave, and the three Seekers is all I want, then I'm done.

I don't keep track of how many of each faction are released during the year on average, but I'm glad I don't have the desire for all those carbots and re-paint versions.

Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

I would love to get MP's, I can't afford to justify MP's and my place is space limited, I will have a hard time finding a place were to display my figures, for the time being it's only Deluxe's, Voyagers, Leader Class. I could squeeze in CW Devy

Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

Is it unusual to have this many MPs released so close together? We're getting Tracks, Road Rage, Ironhide, Hot Rod and Shockwave all getting (projected) releases in the next 6 months, not counting other reissues and repaints. It feels like an accelerated turnaround on these lately.

Maybe they realize if they don't produce a few more a year they will lose market share to 3p

Re: The Rules of Collecting MPs (opinion piece)

This lists makes MP collecting seem like a real chore.

HHAI'S 10 RULES OF MP COLLECTING

1. Have fun

2. If collecting MPs become too complicated or become a chore, you're missing the point.

3. if you have the means, buy whatever MP toy you want to buy.

4. If you want a toy NOW, then by all means get it NOW. It's ok to buy a figure at full price at release.

5. If you lack money, simplify life. Everyday we spend money on so many useless thing that don't even last without even realizing it.

6. Buy at any price you feel is fair for what you're getting. Don't think someone is more clever than you because he paid a few dozen dollars less than you for the figure.

7. Transform you MPs often. They're transformers!

8. Go "pew pew" and "vroom vroom" with them. Run around the house with your MP seekers in hand and shoot the cat.

9. After a stressful day at work, watch an old G1 episode with a bunch of toys on the table and reenact scenes.

10. In the morning, grab a cup of coffee, go into the room your MPs are displayed, just look at them a few minutes and enjoy how cool life is!
