Amazon will do the return avoidance. Just start a live chat and ask them to refund the difference, same as any other retailer would do.

It's worth it to them to avoid the return shipping, inventory handling (likely disposal or liquidation) and re-ship costs.

I literally just got handed the Dominus Criminal Pursuit I ordered from the .com site by the Amazon delivery driver.

They sent it straight to a pickup location even though I authorized release at my doorstep. Sucks but whatever. After I pick it up I'll contact Amazon about the refund as they requested I do.
