heh, I'm actually with you there... You've got to wonder, if he didn't pass away, would he still have been nominated?

Re: Dark Knight Gets The Shaft !
I'm not defending the Academy's choices, but the movies that do win are sometimes really good and the bulk of the population of moviegoers who only watch 'blockbusters' like TDK don't even see them. Slumdog Millionaire won Best Picture at the Globes and it was really good.

Re: Dark Knight Gets The Shaft !
Let's be honest, the oscars haven't really been relevant for decades. Now they're just a pageant where we get to see the stars all dressed up, and maybe , just maybe, the awards they win will make the movie a little more money as a form of reccomendation when it comes out on dvd.

Re: Dark Knight Gets The Shaft !
Would people call Biggie Smalls the greatest rapper if he hadn't been killed. Doubt it. JFK, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean their legend becomes thier potential, rather than thier actual body of work. Sad thing is I think Heath Ledger was right there.

I thought Ledger's performance was overrated too. But I think the movie as a whole worked fantastically (save for it being a few minutes too long). Certainly more entertaining and watchable than Ben Button (though I did like that movie too.) Maybe not as good as Slumdog. Though I'd have to see the latter again to make a propper judgement.

Re: Dark Knight Gets The Shaft !
i have always been taught
that acting is about dealing with
a range of emotion.
and just do not see that in this performance,
especially after all the cool factor wore off.
