Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Saw the excellent "Get Out", written and directed by Jordan Peele who is one half of my all time favorite comedy sketch duo, Key & Peele.
For a modern horror it had its fair share of jump scares, but thankfully it also had substance and pure old fashioned nail biting suspense.
To simply categorize it as a movie about racism or "black versus white" would do it a great disservice. It really talks about the cost of pretending to be something you are not. And for that I think it deserves its 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/get_out/ .
With that said, the only thing more entertaining than the movie itself was watching the rowdy, cock-smoking teenagers in the back row who yelled "n-words" at the screen during the movie get stared down by the black family sitting beside us when the lights came up during the credits.

Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Saw Get Out a couple weeks ago, it was great. Mixed the tension and horror elements with humor seamlessly and kept the twists coming throughout. I think it's easily the best movie of 2017 so far, even better than Logan, which was also great.
Shame about the kids in the back, I don't know if I'd be able to keep my cool in that kind of situation.

Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Over the past week, I saw a couple of movies. Kong: Skull Island was nothing really to write home about. It wasn't bad, just nothing really stood out that much which was already done or done better by King Kong from 2005 that had Naomi Watts and Jack Black in it. If you do watch it though, stick around for an after credits scene which alludes to something more interesting.
Also saw Goon: Last of the Enforcers. If you saw the first one and enjoyed that, you'll probably love this sequel. It still has the surprising charm the first one pulled off, more over-the-top brawling, and gives good closure for our dumb but beloved protagonist.

Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Just saw Power Rangers the other night, and man I'm still shocked at how good this movie actually is.
It's far from a perfect film, but what it manages to do is it gets you to care about these characters and what they're going through. I feel like I know more about these five in 2 hours than I do about the original MMPR cast in 100+ episodes.
Definietly worth your time, especially if you are or use to be a Power Rangers fan.

Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)
Never been a fan of Super Sentai myself. I much prefer Kamen Rider and Ultraman.
Kong was a nice set up. But I never understand the idea of Kong VS Godzilla. All the Kaiju from Gojira have atomic nuclear power. Kong is just a giant gorilla. Unless this new Kong can produce nuclear shit to throw at Gojira.

I watched Rogue One again. I think I like it better that TFA.

Agreed. Now. Then. And forever.
