Thank you Michael Bay.
No, Im not going to rip him a new one. Im actaully going to thank him for bringing the Transformers line to the Big screen. I loved the movies. Each movie has their strong points and weak points.
So, with the end of him directing and probably any future involvement related to Transformers, here is my question.
What did you love about the movies? And please only good things about Bay and his transformers. The reason because I hate when people complain it was G1. To me it never was supposed to be. And Im glad they weren't many G1 elements.
The one thing I liked, is that in his verison, Optimus Prime was completely badass!

Re: Thank you Michael Bay.
People can hate on him all they want but there's no denying that the cash his movies have brought in's gonna keep this franchise alive and kicking for foreseeable future.

Yep, we'd have no Classics figures. If they bombed.

I feel the opposite, I don't mind Prime being a bad-ass warrior, but I always felt he was the noble warrior, the kind who gave his enemies a chance at redemption and never acted out of anger. Not the hothead who wanted to "kill them all."
Don't get me wrong, I like the whole "anti-hero" thing generally, and I know they're popular (I like Venom from Spiderman for example) but I never pictured Prime as an anti-hero, and I am disappointed they turned him into one.
In the G2 comics, the autobots were rather violent, similar to their movie counterparts, but Prime remained the voice of reason, and the contemplative conscience of the autobots, he was still the Prime we've known since G1, and I liked that. This movie prime by contrast, just feels different to me.

Re: Thank you Michael Bay.
I like that the movies have brought Transformers out of their "toy" roots and into the mainstream as a well known international media franchise. Likewise, thanks to these films, Optimus Prime is now a recognizable character, on perhaps a similar or slightly lower tier to Spider-man or Superman.

Bay also turned the Decepticons into a bunch of LOTR orcs or Star Wars stormtroppers who looks big and scary but can't take a beating. Makes you actually feel sorry the Cons.

Re: Thank you Michael Bay.
yeah i mean this movie continuity is shaking things up. of course movie prime lacks a lot of what makes prime "prime", but the movies are their own thing entirely in my eyes. wheeljack is not wheeljack, mirage was not mirage, etc... so if their prime is a homocidal maniac, then i'm going to enjoy it for what it is, and it is excellent.

Re: Thank you Michael Bay.
The fact that GM made a Transformer.
The world's largest toy.
As other poster's said, bringing TF into the mainstream again has revived it for a good solid number of years.
