Looking for some input. I have currently built myself a briefcase for Generations Brainstorm and I am looking for input from other scratch builders, painters, etc...
As you can see I am now on what I'm calling Briefcase 3.0 and I'm looking for a better colour match to the one in the IDW Universe. I started with a dark brown similar to leather on the 1.0 model. I went with a lighter wood colour for version 2.0 but I'm still not 100% happy with the colour.
I understand that in the comics it does have more of a yellow look, but the standard yellows I have seen just don't seem right to me. If you have built or painted a briefcase of your own what paint did you use? Or if you have investigated this same issue, what were some of your discoveries?
Maybe try it in gold. The briefcase has always read as more gold than yellow to me.
I was thinking gold myself, but when I go to sleep with an issue I can sometimes wake up with an idea. So after my morning coffee I quickly went through my copies of More than Meets the Eye and I noticed something.
The colourists have tend to match the colour of the briefcase to the colour of Brainstorm's faceplate. Seeing that (as you can see from the example) I am going to try and find a colour match for the faceplate on Generations Brainstorm.
....but please do not let the awesome idea stop here!

Well the choice of colour was finalized and I was busy building two different versions. The first being a closed handle for Generations Brainstorm. The second is a 5mm compatible version for Smartrobin and G1 Brainstorm.
The 5mm variant has one part of the handle fixed while the other is on a pivot point allowing it to rotate a full 360 to place and position in the hand.
The attached photos are of mine and other happy owners of the cases I've created.
If you are at all interested I will be producing more and selling these hand crafted cases. They would be $25 USD for the Generations version and $30 USD for the 5mm variant. The price includes shipping anywhere in North America and come fully complete and painted.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
