If they didn't want him to be Starscream to avoid conflict with the Bay-verse movies, they could have at least called him Sunstorm to homage the Dreamwave comics where he is a clone of Starscream.
But man, calling him Blitzwing is like deciding to call Bumblebee Gears or Huffer.
