I did that. I worked the night shift at wal-mart one summer.
I was fired after a week and they were right to do so. I hated it.

Re: 24 hour walmart
Does anyone's Wal-Mart have the self-checkout thingy? Really, Night Shift all you probably need is one-open cashier, and maybe 2-helpers at the front desk. Other than that, customers could just use the self-checkout at night.

Re: 24 hour walmart
All I can say is it's about friggin time, though why Winnipeg gets one over TO I have no idea, or why they cant open one in TO as well. I know the store their making 24h is suppose to have the sales percentages in their favor but I can see more people in the GTA wanting to slip into a Wal-Mart in the middle of the night moreso.

Problem is you can buy stuff at 3am but you cant necessarily hold it in your hand at 3am.

Re: 24 hour walmart
The McPhillips Walmart is one of the most busy in Canada I believe, or so I've been told. It serves a large amount of people driving in from the north to do their Winnipeg shopping. They even opened a Walmart in Selkirk MB to try and spread out the business a bit, but sales at McPhillips didn't drop.
All that said of course Toronto should have a 24 hour Walmart or two. They should have them in every major market, not just here and I'm sure they will in time.

Re: 24 hour walmart
I don't get the attraction of going to Walmart in the middle of the night. Last Christmas, one of the Calgary ones was open all night and it was actually busier than I expected. There must be an appeal... but I don't get it personally.

I was. Like anyone else, I was curious, and checked it out. Would I make a habit of it? Hell no! But it was worth the initial visit.

Re: 24 hour walmart
I'm actually quite surprised that there hadn't been a 24 hour Walmart in Canada before this.
