I've enjoyed all the series for one reason or another. But for me personally it would have to be Beast Wars. It showed the world that we as Canadians have KICK ASS animation.

My rankings:

1) Beasties
2) G1 (starting of the beasts)
3) Cybertron (return of the beasts)

If we remember what Botanica stated in Beast Machines, all the bots reformated to a planet's specific nature. Deep down, they are all the same, just different shells. With all the hating about beasts, why is there such love for the Dinobots or G1 Predcons??????

I would have thought this would be a pretty obvious choice, heh. Beast Wars!

Why? Well...

-Superior animation than almost any other show,
-less animation errors,
-actual character models for smoother movements,
-it's in full 3d,
-it wasn't really a rehash of G1,
-it rebooted the entire bloody franchise
-It built on previous canon in a meaningful way
-smaller cast of characters, so more characterization for each
-more variety of alt modes and design despite smaller cast
-stories had real consequences
-Canadian production, baby!

My second choice would have to be Animated right now. Its production values are fantastic, and the rest of the characters and story are great once you get past the animation style.

I'd say that in general to the average layman on the street, they'd vote for Beast Wars. This site is full of Transformers Fans so it's kinda bias and obviously G1 would be winning.

for me as I was born 1989 and completely missed the series as a kid. My dad bought me so many transformers without me even knowing what they were I got interested. Beast Wars was my first series and I just loved every second of it.

I re watched all of the series to get my facts straight and become a hardcore fan!

But still:
1) Beast Wars (American)
2) Beast Wars II/Neo (Love those Combiner bots!)
3) Animated (The humor and action scenes are great)
4) Japanese G1 expansions
5) G1

G1 is the last on my list or should be 3rd because the Jap verisons weren't on the list only because it lacked strong story lines like the others and skipped a lot of character introductions.

I also agree, I too wasn't for the way Animated looked, but I started to fall in love with the simplicity of it. It's the only series were I bought all the toys for (minus repaints/varients) and not just the ones I liked such as the best toy in the world, Omega Prime!

All of the other series lacked and were weak.
