Welcome to our brand new, call Canadian, Pro Wrestling discussion thread.
Yes, I prefer the term "Wrestling" to "Sports Entertainment"
We must have a few wrestling fans in the Great White North so I got to thinking why not make a thread for some discussion. Anything goes, WWE, TNA, Border City, ROH, whatever....
Raw, Smackdown, Impact and whatever discussions can all go here!
Personally I've been a wrestling fan since first watching Mad Dog Vachon and Baron Von Rasche back when I was about five years old in the AWA.
Over the years I've followed a lot of wrestlers careers. A few favorites of mine over the years have been: Demolition, Ted Debiase, Bret and Owen Hart, Chris Jericho, RVD, Sandman and Eddy Guerrerro to name a few.
My recent favorites include Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, AJ Styles, Gail Kim, Chrsitian Cage and Santino Marella
Over the years I've been fortunate enough to get out to my fair share of events as well. Be it local cards promoted by Tony Condello and Cyrus, to catching Monday Night Raw live in Winnipeg and a WCW Monday Nitro taping in Fargo.
Last night there was a WWE RAW House Show here in Winnipeg featuring the return of Y2J Chris Jericho to the Peg for the first time in four years!
Winners on the card were Matt Hardy, Fit Finlay, Morrison and Miz, The Glamazon, Orton and Rhodes, Steven Regal(Thats right, I said STEVEN!).
In a hard fought main event, Jericho challenged John Cena for the World Title and had an incredible match clocking in at about 30 minutes in length. Tons of false finishes and the like.
The forth FU by Cena proved to be more than Jericho could recover from, and the partisan Jericho crowd went away slightly disappointed...(OK, we knew the title wasn't going to change hands on a house show
).
Jericho despite getting huge cheers from the crowd of 13,000 plus fans remaned surprisingly in character for most of the match.
After the match was over he then finally played to the crowd and talked to his fans for a few minutes, ending with a "WINNIPEG IS JERICHO!" promo!
It was a fun show, although I don't follow the WWE as closely as I once did. I admit I know very little abut Koffi Kingston, Miz, Morrison and a few more of the newer guys.
Anyway here's a few pictures from the show. Sometimes my little camera wasn't quite up to the task so forgive a bit of bluriness please.
