Re: rental car warning - payless rentals

Jesus H Chrysler that's sounds like nightmare! So sorry that you and your family had to go through that. That scratch looks like it could be easily buffed out. I would suggest getting some investigation journalism on their ass (W5, Marketplace, etc.) Maybe somehow get in contact with other families that went through this same bs, or perhaps setup a facebook page outlining your story and get some form of petition signed to get these dholes out of business. At the very least a warning for other's considering them.

Re: rental car warning - payless rentals

I always use Budget when renting a car and have never had an issue. Just rented a car for 10 days, unlimited kilometers plus the extra no fault insurance for $420.

Stick it to them Otis, they are clearly scammers.

not to argue but the damage is nowhere near $500.
see that tiny white dot in the middle of the door?it's roughly 1/8" x 1/8",that's why we're so pissed.
I've been a journeyman bodyman since 2004 so I've done many insurance claims.
this is but a surface bump.
if you bring it to dent clinic,it's at best 10 minutes of your time and 26 dollars to slightly nudge it back out.
keep in mind, the pic doesn't show it as clear as it is,but the "damage" is surface.it's not even through the clearcoat, therefore it can be polished in about 2 minutes.
I know for a fact they're not going to get it repaired,it was nothing more than a scare tactic/money grab.
our insurance is going to request that they actually provide a quote from a reputable body shop, and a actual receipt before they proceed with payless.
if they couldn't even take the time to remove a water bong from the glove compartment, what makes you think they'll take the time to remove this tiny arse ding?
it's a scam,and we're not the first.
hopefully they get shut down......
Please provide the name and location of any body shop in Calgary that's doing dent repair for $26. Also explain how a scratch can change dark paint to white without touching the paint.
Show your photos to Contemporary Coachworks and ask them how much it would cost to fix. If they say it's under $500, I'll pay your rental charges.

It's not likely a dent that can't be pushed back out without hassle, and it can most certainly change color if the clear coat is scratched with a white object. I had a shopping cart ding my new vehicle, left some yellow scratch marks....Cost me $65 to have the small dent pushed out and the touchup paint applied, looks brand new. Someplaces may charge $1200 but those are places that you should avoid.

I hope he takes you up on your offer.

From my experience when my black Acura TSX was spanking new, I got doored at a parking lot, someone scraped/slammed their door against the passenger side door and left a 2 foot scrape about 1-2 inches height and yes you could even see some of the white undercoat all along. I took it to the dealer and asked how bad it is and how much it would cost? The service rep had a look at it, took out a portable buffer with some compound and a few minutes later the scrape was gone! Guess how much he charged me... not a single cent! Can you believe that, the dealer who's job is to charge crazy service prices did not charge me a single cent. I was blown away on the honesty and I've been loyal customer ever since, well at least on the small jobs. Well... get your wallet ready to pay Otis' rental fee.
