Fair For Canada?
OK I think many of you here have heard the Fair for Canada propaganda by the three-headed Monster known as Robellus. I am so sick of hearing it, especially when they play it on radio in the morning and it's the first thing I hear. I know there are people on this board who work for one of them so some of them may feel partisan about their employers. But I want to know what others are thinking. Please don't get political about this. This is just about what could benefit and cost us the consumers. Much like how we loathe the MP situation due to TRU's exclusivity.
Oh here's a parody:

Re: Fair For Canada?
I'm all for Verizon coming over the border. The radio ads are almost embarrassing to listen to. Wah wah, no fair, stomp my feet.
Our wireless options are horrendous. The more companies in competition, the better for the consumer. "It's good fair competition", like the ad says.

Re: Fair For Canada?
A far as I've heard they're biggest complain is the division of upcoming wireless space. As broadcast switches to digital there are going to be 4 major frequency ranges that open up. Since Verizon is 'new' they apparently will be getting two of the ranges leaving Robellus to fight over the remaining 2. That I don't find that fair as they should get divided evenly.
Other than that they're being a bit over-dramatic about the whole thing.
That parody was really funny.

The last round of wireless spectrum auction was also limited so that the large players couldn't acquire everything, that's how public mobile, wind, mobilicity, quebecor, and saskatel acquired spectrum, otherwise the big three would have outbid everyone on everything.
I'm not normally one in favour of government intervention, but if the status quo is no real competition, then I think we need to shake things up a bit, even if that creates an unlevel playing field for 5 or 10 years so that a fourth company can acquire a good 15%-20% of the Canadian market so they'll be more than a bit player.

Re: Fair For Canada?
I think it's fair. Turnabout is fair play! I found it funny that now that 4LTE is up and going my 3G seems slower now, I don't think I'm delusional here. It's not the first time Robellus has been accused of such tactics and I'm confident the practice will continue in different ways. So good on them that there is something they can not buy so I can go to a Verizon Centre in Canada instead of a Rogers or Bell one for a sporting event, lol.

Re: Fair For Canada?
I like rogers. I got a 700 dollar phone dropped to 300, plus I was given a 150 credit. So basically, I paid 150 for a brand new smartphone.
(For this thread topic):
I see pros and cons on both sides. Pros of course possibly lowering our big three prices. However, the cons out weight the pros on this one. I'm no to Verizon. And for those that know me, its not because its another American company taking business away from Canadian companies. There is more to it. But, I am not going say here because, it is not the place. Unless someone else mentions it first. But it is good to see the big three scared.

Re: Fair For Canada?
My buudy had a great comment on the ad. Specifically about how it complains that the new guy is supposedly getting all these sweet deals and the existing guys are paying for it.
My buddy said he wanted to run a counter ad on YouTube asking the big three how this was any different than how they treat their customers. They offer sweet deals to new customers while existing customers who have paid into the companies for years get jack unless you go through the hassle of complaining. Even then you don't get the same specials as new customers.
He wanted to ask the big three if they feel what is happening with Verizon is unfair, then wouldn't their practice of offering special deals to new customers and forgoing old customers be just as unfair business practices?
