AOE Deluxe Slug

Name: Slug
Faction: Dinobots
Alt mode: Triceratops
Size class: Deluxe

ROBOT MODE

ALT MODE

WITH FELLOW DINOBOTS

PROS
-movie Dinobot, dammit!
-colorful
-spikey!
-knight look
-quality plastic
-wicked head sculpt
-poseable lower jaw
-unusual weapon storage in dino mode
-interesting transformation (dino ribs form the forearms, and how the dino head splits in 2 to form the shoulder pads)
-good range of motion in robot mode

CONS
-kibbly robot mode
-dino mode takes some massaging to get right (pegging the rear legs to the back is a bit tricky because the part they peg into is made of rubber)
-rubber swords... meh
-restricted head movement
-limited poseability in dino mode (head doesn't move, rear legs don't move unless you unpeg them from the back)
-no wrist swivels

Slug is growing on me. You have to forget everything you knew about G1 Dinobots to appreciate the new Dinobots. They're unique, and I think it's good.

Re: AOE Deluxe Slug

Does the spiky tail bit fold up in robot mode or is that as far as it will go in the photo?

Re: AOE Deluxe Slug

The dark grey part can flip up as well, but it will look stupid sticking out straight back...

I feel a good anime vibe on the robot modes on the dinobots.

I hate to say this, I'm freaking loving all of them!

I love them, but I also do not like the fact that they all are... "spiky" or "Bionicle" looking... all the dinobots looks like a complete serie apart...

Like they have too much "layers" of spiked armor...

But I still dig they're looks none the less... they grow on me

Hmmm... I'm iffy about the weapon storage with the swords just sticking out the dinosaur's sides, I just wish it could be integrated into the dino mode more. Still, he can charge at enemies and lop off their legs at the knees. That's nothing to laugh at and pretty terrifying, I suppose. Remind me of those blades installed on chariot wheels in the past.

Re: AOE Deluxe Slug

Too bad about the rubber swords.

Back in the old days (G1), many of the rubber tires managed to stay intact for 20+ years. The RID's rubber tires from 2001 has had 1 casualty for me.

With Hasbro cost cutting on plastic, and using less of it...based on what we know, how long do you suppose these rubber pieces will last?

Re: AOE Deluxe Slug

In one of the vids put out by Hasbro, they were almost calling the rubber bits a feature... as if.
