Re: Canadian Slag Episode 72 - My Vision, Flight of the Bumblebee

There was A LOT to cover in this episode.

Post TFcon we will try to get back in the swing of bi-monthly recordings. The goal is to have new episodes out every 2-3 weeks.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 72 - My Vision, Flight of the Bumblebee

1991 - Although Star Wars had never really fully vanished(still things like West End Games were regularly publishing stuffs for roleplaying in that universe), it was pretty much removed from the mainstream......

Enter Heir to the Empire in 1991. Timothy Zahn's first Star Wars novel, advertised as the official continuation of the Star Wars Saga, came out and opened at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list, instantly making names like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade well known.

Toy wise the renaissance did start in 1995 coinciding with the release of the films(once again) , but the thing that made Lucas realize that people were still interested in Star Wars was the huge success of the trilogy with no name, circa 1991.

So from around the time of the Laserdisk release in 1985 to 1990, pretty much no Star Wars. Then came Heir(with Dark Empire from Dark Horse in development at the same time) and suddenly Star Wars was in the mainstream again.

Great, if it can cover half of my 8 hour shift it's all good. I might have a problem, I've become a bit of a podcast whore

Can you break it up into separate files? I need to convert this to CD to listen in the car and so a 4 hr podcast is going to be to big.

I'll see what I can do but if I can't figure out how, I'm not going to invest much time into finding out...too many other things to worry about at the time unfortunately with TFcon so close.

Much appreciated. Worst case I'll just play it off my phone and maybe bring some spare speakers for the ride.

Not much in the way of TFcon discussion - Just go back and find last year's TFcon prep episode if you want. We really didn't have much to add. It would have just been repeating themselves over and over.

That's fine, certain few phrases are repeated over and over on the podcasts anyways.

Or you guys can edit it....George Lucas style...

Record a few words or a sentence to overlap an old out-of-date one from the original podcast.
