lol, of course. I mean, one is a business move for the company...Unicron is the sucker project meant to pad the retirement yacht budgets for Goldner and Warden lol.

I don't see Haslab as them needing to crowdfund, I think it's more just that these big projects are extremely expensive for potential customers and/or retailers, and it may not be worth the investment if the customer base isn't there or no retailer wants to pick it up. So all Haslab does is ensure that there are sufficient customers for those products, thus ensuring that they won't have to worry about selling through excess inventory.

I was being facetious earlier -- of course there's a difference between a corporate acquisition and product development in just one of Hasbro's many toy divisions. But it does strike me as kind of funny that HasLab is presenting its Unicron project like a homegrown, labour of love, third-partyish Kickstarter when the company as a whole clearly has vast financial resources. And I say that as a guy who would love to back it if I had the dough and the space, lol.
