There's no doubt that the Henkei versions look more G1 accurate, but I do like the updated more modern look of the hasbro versions. For some figures it's really a toss up that comes down to personal preference.

Re: Henkei vs Hasbro Classics Comparison pics

I prefer Henkei all the way for every single figure. The only reason I get the US version is when the repaints like AcidStorm, Cliffjumper, Blaster, Heavyload, etc, aren't available for Henkei (exception for US version Megatron, I love both versions). Is Henkei Prowl taller than Universe Prowl??? From tat photo, Henkei Prowl seems taller to me. I am glad that I sold off my US collection for these Japanese Henkei! Now I just can't wait to see the G1 color Henkei Ultras, Henkei Skywarp and Henkei Thundercracker!!

Nice post, I didn't realize there were so many paint differences between the two.

The only Henkei I don't like too much is Grimmy, a bit too much Chrome or not enough. I think it would have looked better if all the grey bits were Chrome.

While some Hasbro ones are worth getting just for their own awesome. Like having both "ANIME Astrotrain" and "TOY Astrotrain".

Well, myself I find it half and half.

I like Hasbro Mirage, Jetfire, Bumblebee and Ramjet better for sure.

Henkei Starscream > Classics Screamer, Henkei Megs is better, and the Astrotrains are equally sweet. Prime looks great in person for the Henkei figs as well.

As for the newer guys, Sunstreaker's better for the Henkeis as is Ironhide, and others are more mixed (I think Hasbro Silverstreak looks just as good, and ditto for Prowl if you keep his missiles down like I do. Hasbro Galvatron is also superior.)

You like the neon orange better on Galvatron than the grey? That's surprising.

The only one Hasbro toys I like more are Mirage and Powerglide.
