Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread
Desert Dog, that is an awesome collection.
Space is staring to be a factor for me now. There is just too much stuff coming down the pipes and most of them are BIG! Appolyon, Sever, CW Combiners, etc...I use Detolfs and prefer to only display 2 or three per shelf like Rev does.
I've been thinking of purging some MP repaints I have, both Hasbro and Takara. What's the appetite for repaints these days? Things like the Nemesis stuff and some Seekers. I already unloaded my MP-23 Exhaust. Also opted out of Goldbug. Thinking I need to focus on G1 characters that were actually in the show.
Anyone taking this approach too? I wonder if it will satisfy my plastic itch. These repaints are a slippery slope.

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread
Display space is always an issue for me. I have lots of storage space so I like to rotate or change up what I have on display from time to time.

I don't think I could part with Nemesis Prime. He's gorgeous. Or the Tokyo toy show Silverstreak. I could part with the rainmaker inspired Jets though. I bought them just to buy them I think.

Well I just had increase my shelf space.
Mainly focusing on mainline MP's, I do have nemisis prime and sunstorm but thats it.
have also beasties, animated, prime and movie line.
Might thin out my movie line

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread
Thanks guys, although I think I need some of those TF backgrounds next, that paint is letting the side down. And new shelves.
Funny thing is that I posted the same pic on the MP "appreciation" thread over on TFW2005, only for it to sink like a lead submarine with the hatches open, because an MISBer (over)paid $825 for a "1000%" genuine Bape Convoy and got a damaged box that may or may not be a real Bape. Almost 40 posts later and it's now the Mysterypiece Angstipation thread. Very little appreciating going on there.
I obviously have no problem with repaints. MP-10B and MP-10U are separate characters to me, YotH, Eva and Bape KO are just for fun, and I love the mold. It's funny, I love the jets, just finished the Datsun Trio, I have Goatwave POL'd, will still buy a regular MP-5 to bookend MP-5G, even after Apollyon, would buy a Powered Convoy repaint of Magnus, and can't wait for Exhaust, but I have no interest, 0, in Tigertrack, that overpriced poor mans Sunstreaker in Sideswipes clothing. Spinout can't release soon enough.

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread
Have to pipe in here. Your collection is truly striking and the display is also nice. My comment is that you have a lot more room than you think that you do if you simply re-arrange your bots configuration.
Try imagining a repeating pattern like this one:
x----x----x
---x----x----x
x----x----x
where each "x" is a spot for a bot and "-" is empty space and I think you will find you can still see them all and there will be more room.
there is your free and unsolicited advice from me for today...

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread
Awesome collection, DesertDog!
Multiplex, I have been opting out of some repaint as well. And skipped Star Saber - although he seems great in person. So much cool stuff coming up (Devastator, MP-25 Tracks, hopefully Ironhide and Ratchet down the line), got to save up a little.
