Takara: https://www.hlj.com/product/TKT39840/Sci

Hasbro version is a crap shoot. Have to get lucky on the price, B&K has it and their stuff is always worry free: http://bkcollectables.com/products/h...-prime-reissue

Prowl: He's everywhere. A fair deal is around $90+shipping

Apollyon or CW Megs: Apollyon has random QC issues and either you will love him or hate him. Finding him seems to be quite the adventure too. CW, it is what it is. Your call!

Thundercracker: Keep an eye on the cybertron.ca sales section and be very patient. Or, go Ebay but the prices are insane.

Skywarp: Actionrobo has it for $250 CAD shipping included. Best deal I can find out there. Cross your finders for duties.
http://www.actionrobo.com/index/inde...product_id=278

Starscream: cybertron.ca sales section, or watch ebay for a descent price. OR, wait for the TRU release that is rumored to happen later this summer/year. Not sure if that's going to be US only but either way, Starscream will probably be a lot cheaper once that release happens.

YOTH Optimus is sweet but his trailer is transparent which makes it unpleasing

Prowl: I prefer the Takara version

Apollyon: Has QC issues?

Skywarp: Agesthree&up had him for 90$ but it was the Hasbro version

Thundercracker: Like Prowl, I prefer the Takara version

Starscream: I'll wait for the re-issue then

Thundercracker
Skywarp
Starscream

I'm all about groups so I'd go for Hasbro MP-10, Takara Prowl, Apollyon and MP-11 Starscream.

That way you have the leader and their second in command for both sides.

TC and SW you can take your time with. It's great to have the full Seeker contingent but in all honesty they are all the same toy painted differently. Then you can decide whether you counter the Seekers with Prowl's Datsun brothers or you go with the other cars instead.

If you are on a budget I'd say just Optimus and Apollyon/Megatron for now. IMO they are the best starting point for any collection. They'll be a pretty penny but worth it.

Yeah that's what I had in mind also lol Optimus and Megs as starting.

Prowl is 2nd in command? Wasn't it Ironhide or Jazz? And how many times Ironhide was temporary leader when Prime was in danger on Cybertron or during the double Prime situation and etc...

In the Marvel comics that preceded the series Prowl is depicted as the highest of Prime's lieutenants and even took temporary command of the Ark crew until Optimus could be fully restored.

In the series it was rather grey as to who was second in command but many would say it was Jazz but IMO he was more like Prime's "right hand man" than an official Commander.

However Prowl's G1 toy tech spec bio placed his rank at "9" versus Jazz's "8" so pick and choose as you may...

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread

I'm pretty sure Skywarp hasbro version isn't the new MP-11 mold and has the kibble on the hips. Same goes for Takara Thundercracker, that one is definitely the MP-07 and has the hip junk. If you like that mold then you will pay a lot less for sure but the MP-11 mold I think is a whole lot nicer. It's at least something to be aware of when choosing. Starscream re-issue will have the MP-11 mold guaranteed.

Apollyon QC issues are just what people are saying so take that for what it's worth I guess.. Apparently it scratches easy and some come already scratched, paint chipped off, stiffness where some broke it trying to transform. Others say it's the cat's ass and love everything about it. It's really a mixed bag of reviews.

Prime and Megs though, that's starting from the top for sure and you can't go wrong with that! Here's a comparison for Mp-10 Hasbro vs Takara.

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread

What's the difference between this IGear Thundercracker and MP Hasbro or Takara Thundercracker?

Takara, better jet mode.

Hasbro, better bot mode.

I like aspects of both.

IGear got the colour right. As for the mold, it's a fusion of MP-3 and MP-11.

Quality, I can't comment since I dont own it.

I dont own that igear thundercracker but i do own their coneheads , sunstorm, acidstorm and another i can't think of atm and their quality is identical to hasbro /takara. Its an mp-3 mold with the hip kibble taken care of.

Re: The Masterpiece Appreciation and Speculation Thread

Here's hoping that Thundercracker gets a re-issue of the MP11 mold...I guess since Hasbro's already done one, Takara could make it happen. From what I've seen of the Hasbro ones, I'm totally ok with it. It's blue, it's TC, it's the same mold as SS, the rest is gravy. But of course, I'd prefer a new one...just not with Skywarp prices, that is.

Speaking of SW, for being such a 'limited' edition, you can still find him everywhere. But his price just keeps going up, much like Hasbro TC.

Takara will piss me off if they release a Conehead before they reissue TC ...but I won't stay mad too long.

XTC, do a transparent purple reformatting version.
