Three words: "No thanks, bitch." haha. Just kidding. (But not really...)

But which is better, asking about the credit card or asking if you found everything?

I always felt like saying "Nope, now what are you gonna do about it, hold up the line for 15 minutes to check for something for me?"

Say no thanks and move on. Life is too short to worry about this.

Don't get me wrong on this. If they introduce me the new items or toys that they have the knowledge, it is completely fine. Just this question will turn me off.
Yeah. I get a little bit pissed too. First I say no thanks. If they keep pushing I just say I can't afford it right now, or I don't have enough money. Half the time that stops them dead. How can you buy something if you don't have the money? If after that they still push. I just stare them in the eye with a serious look and say 'no'. Don't be rude or dick. But once they know you've put up a wall and won't budge, that should stop them most of the time. Unfortunately, there's a small percentage that still pushes even after that. If that happens, show them a pissed off face, and tell them to stop asking or you'll take your business elsewhere. I know it's not always possible to walk away.

Lastly, I know it's a sales person's job to suggestive sell, but the smart salesman only asks once or twice. Anything beyond that is being rude.

I hate being interrupted while I'm browsing. Or eating.

Re: when the clerk said "You should get/buy this"

A smile opens more doors than a frown, they say. A smile and a simple "I'm fine, thanks" works well for me, and unlike some of the responses here, doesn't ruin the retail workers' day.
