I guess this is what you get when you mix one part T-Bob from M.A.S.K., one part Gobot Scooter, and two parts Bumblebee with a dash R2D2 and BB8.

Re: First Look at Transformers: The Last Knight R/C Sqweeks
Vaguely reminds me of those small 1970s-80s Takara robots. Little kids will be all over this thing based on it's looks. As for whether their parents would buy it for them, that's another story.
To be honest, this looks like most toddler/preschooler ride-on toys, except they can't ride on it. Still will be pretty popular with that age group. Though with the remote control aspect, I'm not sure that'll appeal to them as much as a ride-on toy would.
I'm concerned for the TF5 movie after seeing this. TF4 was pretty dark and graphic, something this cutesy doesn't mesh well with that sort of thing. I'm expecting a Jar-Jar level of backlash over this character.

I wouldn't be concerned. IMHO it will be exactly like what we've gotten for the last four movies. Take that what ever way you want.
There have been other times where they tried to insert cutesy characters in. Wheelie, appliance bots, etc.
