80's Toy Expo Purchase Surprises

So, the 80's toy expo has come and gone. It was a good show, I especially liked meeting the cast of Canadian Slag. You guys rock.

So here is the question, what items did you purchase that you did not expect you were going to buy, and when you got got it, received much more then expected with the toy making you love it more then you thought you would?

For myself i found myself surprised with
- Swerve: The chevy aero - Found it at a great deal and love it
- Prime Viacon: The Transformation on this toy is incredible and it is amazing how little of the car is visible in the robot mode
- Rage of Hercules set - I was on the fence with this, but happy i got it, made a big difference and hercules looks even more massive

MMPR Legacy Megazord, I didn't expect to find it there, I grew up watching the show and is something I always wanted since then, so I was happy to finally own one. Lets just hope they make a Dragonzord

I tried to be there but couldn't get out of my shift, nor get my lieu time granted to get off early and at minimum make an appearance...for what it's worth Wendel was selling my stuff between Ian and Daniel :P

Thanks for the appreciation though! Nice to hear from new listeners enjoying the show.

Finding that one booth that had crazy prices for some 90s Sentai toys still in the packaging.

Re: 80's Toy Expo Purchase Surprises

I was surprised at the amount of good deals to be had at the show, if I had more money I would have bought more especially the Takara Soundblaster. So I went and got a whack of deluxes that way I can knock off the bigger purchases the next few shows. Now to buy some more Ikea shelving

Re: 80's Toy Expo Purchase Surprises

I bought the grey Jet Vehicon and it's just as awesome as the regular vehicon when it comes to the outstanding alt mode. It is my very first Takara figure and as impressed as I am with the figure I have to say it feels a little flimsy and I hate all the stickers that need to be applied. I did not expect Hasbro's efforts to be superior considering the cost and all the rave reviews Takara gets.
I'm still glad I picked it up though.

Original MOTU Snake Face. I didn't expect to find him since he's super rare, apparently. But I got him complete and for $15 less than the cheapest price he goes for on eBay.
