It's actually easy to host images. I don't bother with a flickr account. I just use
this site and it provides you the direct links to embed into a post. You can also choose to auto-resize your images. I always choose 800x600 to accommodate people on tablets (like me). I also use it to rehost pretty much any image from the Internet. I do this a lot when the picture is too big. You just input the image link.
