Re: BotCon 2012 Policy Update Regarding Fan Art

I Know that the original movie batmobile was sold to a private collector and even though he owns the car he has to get permission from warner to drive it in public, make apperances, avertise, or in any way make a buck off of it requires warners written permission and a cut of any $

Botcon isn't for the fans anymore. Oh well. TFCON is probably going to explode with new attendees in coming years.

Re: BotCon 2012 Policy Update Regarding Fan Art

Isn't there a transformers art book: The Ark, or something like that, which features mostly third party artwork?

I'm sure Hasbro got a cut of that...they could similarly find a way to "sanction"/permit these fan artists to sell their stuff at botcon if they wanted to.

Or do like Star Wars, and have people compete/apply to get into the artists alley, and Hasbro gets to decide which third party artists are good enough/ keep their brand's high quality and standards to sell their stuff at botcon?

It simply sets a legal precedent of what they could do.

Re: BotCon 2012 Policy Update Regarding Fan Art

Say if the Hasbro guys showing up at TFCon doesn't actually tell us anything concrete about future products showing up in Canada... why not try to invite someone from Toys 'R' Us Canada to tell us what they ordered? That'd be some pretty solid info and we'd know what we're getting FOR SURE for the Holiday season. I'm sure they wouldn't mind the publicity.
