Re: GameStop.ca (formerly EB Games) Transformers Sightings and discussion

I stopped trying to get preorders from Gamestop. I have nothing but issues so decided to just order them online when they show up on the website.

I've never had a problem with Ship to Home preorders. But with all the stories I've heard about people losing their In-Store preorders, I'd never even consider it. I don't know why people bother, especially considering shipping is free over $35.

Sometimes you don't have a choice, as ship to home often sells out fast, leaving in-store pickup as the only option.

For in-store, you need to become friendly with the staff. If they know you as a regular customer, they will generally prioritize your orders. Of course, with staff turnover, that's not as easy anymore. But still worth putting in the effort, if you can.

You're right, fair point. Ship to Home does often sell out really quickly. I tend to consider multiple retailers as alternative 'just in case' scenarios, but that's not going to be everyone's preference. It would be nice if products were just available without the stress of trying to secure preorders that don't always guarantee you'll receive the item.

Pick up in store also means not having to pay the full amount up front. Pre-ordering with in-store pickup means you only get charged $5 per item as a deposit at the time of making the pre-order whereas if you pay to have it shipped to your home, sure it's free, but you pay it in full up front.

Maybe it?s a paypal thing, but GS only charges preorders when it ships when you buy with a credit card.

Yeah, using a credit card I've only ever paid when the item ships.

They still owe my brother for his Minicons for Soundwave . Charged him for it but never provided any kind of tracking and it never showed up.

This is the reality. Ship to home sells out way to fast often so I have no choice but to go with in store pickup. I was known by the previous staff but not anymore to the new staff yet. Hard to be known as a regular when they sell your stuff without holding it or calling!

I want that ten percent discount but it?s annoying and stressful if this happens.
