Ebay charges import fees now? Lame for Transformers collecting

WTF?

When did Ebay start charging import fees for international purchases? I went to buy something last night from the USA and I was charged $7.96 for import fees (If I bought the item in Ontario tax would have only been $2.60).

Looks like I will be using Ebay even less than I have been in the last couple of years.

Woah, what?

That is new - I don't get it since Ebay isn't the company selling it they shouldn't be.
Are you sure it wasn't just the shipper?

Okay it seems like it is only certain sellers. I guess they sign up for some Ebay service that does it automatically.

Under the listing it will say:

"Customs services and international tracking provided"

I guess be aware when you are buying something.

Yep, avoid those sellers.

It makes it easier and more streamlined for them but it costs us a markup.

One more things to look out for on eBay now. Thanks for the heads up.

How new is this?

Ya this is totally disappointing for Canadians.

Quite a few sellers recently got into some kinda Ebay program that charges import tax.

Not only that, Ebay Canada decided to cut out Ebay bucks for Canadians.

That really pissed me off. It was a good incentive for me to buy on eBay. If the price of an item was the same at an onlie store, I would choose eBay because I was getting SOMETHING back, atleast. I have taken it so bad from eBay but I still go back...its my own fault.

I noticed the import thing a couple weeks ago. Why do I think Canadians will still get dinged by customs even after pre-paying the fees? I will never buy an item with the pre-paid fees.

I just had some import charges on my Magnus Takara Reissue. Don't like the import charges - will stick with seller who don't add this charge. I think Ebay is getting into the shipping $$

I ran into this issue when looking for an mp-10 a while back. It's just this crazy free that doesn't even seem to be consistently applied, and appears to be through some sort of third party organization that supposedly handles customs and such.

There was one hasbro mp10 that I had seen for a great deal (essentially cost + 10$ shipping), but when I went to order it they tacked on another 90$ for this new fee.
