Takara always goes for a more cartoon accurate look with the Masterpiece line, while Hasbro tends to go with the more toy accurate look (though not always).

Yup, sure does.

Makes me glad I got the TRU version of MP9. Both bot mode and vehicle mode look way more show accurate than this 2.0 version does.

Yes, I know the transformation is a nightmare on MP9 and he's overall too big for the new MP scale, but all in all I love that figure.

Hey I just noticed this is being listed as MP-29 "Laserwave" on Anime Export. I guess the Shockwave name is no longer allowed to be used if it's a gun alt mode?

I agree! looks like they just stuck a piece of plastic over his shoulder. But this IS a prototype and design details and shaping may be added as time goes on.

I think I just might stay with my Quakewave as my Shockwave.
