Thanks!
Just very small (precision) painbrushes.. I've been using some from Dollarama and they worked just fine but I did get a set of Tamiya ones just to try using quality ones to see if there's some difference, this was their baptism, and not really. The Dollarama ones, I did have to trim one brush at one point due to some hairs starting to stick out, but nothing major.

I was going to take it apart first, but the ball joints are to tight that I didn't want to risk breaking anything.

I just wear some reading glasses (as magnifiers) to see up close for the smaller details.

Took about 15 minutes, and maybe another 2 later to retouch anything that showed once dried.

This paint dries in about 15 minutes and good for retouches. I then give it about 12 hours to to be sure that it's completely dry).

This paint is very liquid, but quite opaque, so not much is needed, so it's applied very thinly, but dries really fast so you need to be fairly quick, otherwise you can pull it off and get some lumps.. so some alcohol and acetone on hand is really useful.

The original red paint did give me a bit of trouble as the paint didn't want to bond at first, but I rotated the sections being worked on, so once one part done, then the next, by the time I finish all the parts, the first one is already dry enough for a bit of retouching.

Then after the 15 minutes drying time, that retouch needs to be quick and simple, as otherwise you will make the paint mix with the new wet layer and it could come off (possibly small lumps).

For airbrushing, it's something that is a bit tricky and either for larger areas or a particular effect. Note that it will go through a lot of paint compared, and there is no precision (due to the size of these toys and the details that you'd be doing) or easy way to get an even distribution of paint. The manufacturing most probably uses computerized paint application with stencils or similar and measured even spraying.

Re: Tired of waiting for FRENZY?

Can we settle the whole RIB/FIR debate by just calling them Rumble and Red Rumble...
I don't remember Frenzy ever being in the cartoon, other than being the red guy standing/flying next to Rumble.

I found a trick that's uber easy...

I look at the packaging, and I use the name that's on it.

And for this custom, as it was to do the blue version that isn't Rumble, it meant that it was Frenzy.
