Re: 3D Movies - Yes or No ? & Why ?

I watched my first 3D movie and honestly I don't see the excitement. Just like the Blu Ray phase, I prefer a 2D DVD

I hate 3D, and having to pay MORE, for something i dont even like, just to see a movie.

Its just a cash grab

Re: 3D Movies - Yes or No ? & Why ?

Thumbs down on the 3D movement from me as well. To this day, the ONLY time that I got that "immersion" feeling from the 3D gimmick was James Cameron's Avatar...and I thought the film itself was crap! (Dances with Wolves?! REALLY??)

Definitely a cash grab, especially with pointless post-production conversions. The worst film I got burned on was Amazing Spiderman: the poster was 3D!!!! Ok, lenticular, but visuals are gonna be jaw-dropping, right? <yawn>

Problem is when 3D is the only option. I use this handy site to know which films aren't even real 3D and wait those out for a 2D option: http://realorfake3d.com/

Animated movies in 3D are fine, but with anything live action - I will alway take the 2D option if there is one. Usually however, it hasn't been a possibility. There's either no 2D showings or none at a time thats feasible.

I prefer 2D, 3D only if I can get good seats otherwise it looks like shiet. BTW I saw GOTG last night in 2D @ Richmond Hill Cineplex theatre.

3D, some of the sceneries are breathtaking sometimes. Not always worth it, but fun.

Re: 3D Movies - Yes or No ? & Why ?

It depends on the movie. 3D works for Space Pocahontas, I mean Avatar...and animation films.

But if it's not cartoon, even if it's CGI heavy sci-fi, I'd go for 2D.

I feel pretty much the same. I take my glasses on and off every now and then by the middle of the movie to remind myself it's in 3D, because at that point I've stopped noticing or caring it's in 3D.

Since AOE was only available in 3D at the time, it's been a long since I've seen a movie in 3D movie and my opinions haven't changed about the technology.

Ya maybe eventully they will improve on the 3D experience. Until then I will avoid 3D like the plague.

Re: 3D Movies - Yes or No ? & Why ?

For me, 3d is a 2-part downer:

1) I also were glasses (wonder why the industry hasn't adapted to this yet)

2) Visual issues. I have partial vision in one of my eyes that affects depth. I did the 3D test, and can get some of that depth, which is something I can't get around and accept, but I also find that 3D glasses make the visuals darker, which is also problematic for myself. If you could just not wear them at a 3D movie, I would do it and go to more with my friends and loved ones, but that isn't the case due to the technology and how it works.

I ALWAYS look for a 2D option first.

A Harold and Kummar Christmas was probably the only 3D movie I enjoyed. Sadly, TF DOTM wasn't.
