humidity control

i heard humidity can damage figures.

I checked my odometer today and it said it was humid even thug my figures are in the basement in a locked rubbermaid box which my figures are stored. I live in Maryland U.S.A a state that gets hot humid summers.

the ac is being turned on now, but I am now worried since my house has been humid for a few days if my toys are now damaged.

-thanks

Re: humidity control

I'm guessing that prolinged exposure to humidity, etc can affect your figures but that few days shouldn't really make a difference.

Re: humidity control

You might want to consider buying a dehumidifier.

Re: humidity control

I had fogires that got wet from eithjer humidity or damp basement. Given enough t8me metal screws and rods start to rust out. But if you place has an air conditioner and uou dont store your bins near the furnace or any water aources or stacked against an outside basement wall it shoildnt be an issue. Ever once in a while cjeck the bins. If they are in baggies you wpuld nnotice fog inside the bags if theres humidity on there or straight condensation on the lid of the bin.. if not id say your ok.
Im personally more worried about aunlight damged. Uv can shot right through a clear bin or even light coooured bins if exposed to sunlight for long pperiods of tome. This can make plastic brittle or creat "cosmic rust" on figures that cant be repaired.
Best rule: cool dry place off the wall and off the floor. No direecy sun and no moisture nearby. Everrything should be fine then.
