I recently just dived into Mech Fan Toys collection of stuff and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed by their work. I picked up their Springer (MS-01 Samurai), Sixshot (Mech Soul Six Ninja black version) and Huge Dragon, the subject of this review. For a KO company they are doing some great stuff from what I can see. Maybe companies such as these need a new designation like "4th party" maybe?
From what I can tell, Huge Dragon is original and not ripped off from another toy. The toy is well-made, has good quality plastics and some wonderful detailing.
Huge Dragon comes with quite a number of accessories that are compatible with the Diaclone series.
Extra weapons for Diaclone powered systems (armor).
The extra vehicles can be broken down into parts for powered armor. They fold up neatly and can be stored in the cube containers.
As I mentioned earlier, the detailing is nice and the proportions are good. The face is okay, it could have used more work but I'm nitpicking at this point.
According to the Tuna Standard Huge Dragon is well, huge! This is a good sized figure.
I forgot to mention these two cannons, they have limited use on Huge Dragon but will find a good home on Mech Fan Toys other KO, MF-34 Cosmic Super Equipment (TakaraTomy Dia Battles V2).
Here we can see Huge Dragon (with his wings) is a Leader class match. His size makes it easy to scale with the smaller bots.
Now begins the transformation to base mode. Once you pull down the chest panel, Huge Dragon's head can be pulled out to form the tank. The tank does not have rolling wheels or treads. The face cannot be hidden when in tank mode.
Remove the wings to layout the tracks.
Transformation wasn't too involved and once it was all put together it looks very good.
I used the powered system from my Mech Fan Toys Springer to highlight some of the extra weapons that came with Huge Dragon. As you can see, you can customize to your heart's content.
Here are a couple of alternative modes available to Huge Dragon that are not the rocket base.
Huge Dragon is nice and solid! There is no skimping on materials here. The ratchets are solid and clicky. No loose joints anywhere on my Huge Dragon.
Overall, I'm very happy that I picked up Huge Dragon and will definitely pick up a couple of his blue colour variant. I need me some other Guardians stomping around.
There is a whole load of playability with this toy and if you get yourself some other similarly scaled bots you can really build yourself a nice little scene. This toy has set Mech Fan Toys to be a quality producer of transformable toys.
