[Non-Spoiler Review] GIJoe Retaliation

Just saw GIJoe Retaliation last night. Here's my Non-Spoiler Review.

The 1st movie was light, action-packed, & fun. Retaliation was a bit darker, but still very action-packed, & fun.

Unlike the Michael Bay movies, this 1 had character development and a fun story.
I was very glad they didn't reboot the series, as I really liked the 1st movie; despite the poor characterization for Duke and Tatum's terrible acting.

This movie took some very bold moves. There were some things I was hoping for and they took it beyond. Other things I wanted were drastically decisioned away, but the way they did it was tres cool.

GOOD
-Characterization.
-great Continuity
-Some things were true to the comics
-Great action scenes
-Bruce Willis was good! I was really dreading the involvement of mr. 'turn-off-your-brain-action-movie', but he was not half bad!
-Very bold story telling
-great overall direction and depiction of the movie franchise
-Way cool effects. It would be wrong not to credit that!
-I was expecting certain plot devices from movie 1 to drag on. I was relieved they didn't happen.

BAD
-Some main characters had NO character development and were wasted. They were just a GIJoe character by name, and that's it.
-It seemed less like a GIJoe team, and more like a generic military covert team taking on Cobra. Yes, that's what GIJoe are as well, but they have certain character traits that make them stick out as a special brand. This was lacking.

My wife and I saw the 1st movie in the theatres twice; not so much planned, just turned out that way.
This movie we walked out saying we wanted to watch it again.

Loved the 1st movie and lov-ered the 2nd. Keep it up, non-Bay directors!
