Re: POLL: Do you collect G1 figures?

Yes, in a selective manner. Slowly reaquiring those characters that I had in my childhood, but parted with like a fool.

Some of the toys, like the cityformers, are some of the coolest stuff ever, modern figures included.

Though I love the modern takes on G1 as well.

Re: POLL: Do you collect G1 figures?

G1 is the primary line I collect. I started with about 15 figures from my childrhood and over the years have acquired a complete 1984-87 collection. I also have about 2/3 of 1988 and a smattering of the later years. I do intend to complee it all one day.

Probabaly the main reason I haven't bought them all yet is that there are too many other lines to buy, especially Masterpiece, classics and third parties.

based on your screen name i DO hope that you are joking about that statement. cause if your not you need to give your head a shake if you actually think thats a possibility.

"Not really" for me. I have about 10, but most of the were bought to revisit some childhood memories.

Re: POLL: Do you collect G1 figures?

G1s: my Alpha (Trion) to Omega (Supreme), THE reason for my TF collecting

Sure there are other lines that drain my wallet (MPs, Classics/3rd party, Prime, Kreo) and modern engineering is wonderful, but I collect TFs mainly due to nostalgia.
Excluding a few parts here and there, I'm 6 away from completing characters from the American toon, and an additional 7 from 1988-89 that I deemed were "cool enough".

So all in all, I'm 13 G1s away from my goal (sorry Pretenders, Jumpstarters, et al). But the G1s have taken a backseat this year due to
-all the current/new stuff: MPs, Prime, FoC, MOAR 3rd party, friggin' Metroplex?!!
-getting married in the fall, plus a Vegas bachelor party in June
Even had to cancel my Fort Max preorder (don't worry, I have a complete MIB original)

Re: POLL: Do you collect G1 figures?

Occasionally if I find a really good deal. While G1 figures and their releases will always be more valuable money-wise than the new figures and they also have that nostalgia factor, some of the engineering tricks on the newer stuff just blows them away. There's just a little bit more fun in transforming and posing the new stuff.

Unless your collection is contains several thousand Fort Max's in their boxes, this is very unlikely.
