Hey guys.

My first transformer was a 1988 optimus prime that I played so much I loved it to death haha. Anyway, fast forward 20 years I'm right back into it but having trouble finding some bad ass toys. Mp-01 and mp-05 - the huge optimus and megatron. Can someone please point me to the right direction where I don't have fork out an arm and a leg to get these two? I know ebay runs at around $300 for a new mp-01 and around $180 for the mp-05. Anywhere to get these a little cheaper? I'm at toronto

I believe these items are out of production and will be quite high and hard to find.

If you're looking for options on an MP Prime, I'd consider looking for MP-10 in some way, shape, or form.

There's a Year of the Horse version coming out in the near future with a tweaked deco - not G1 accurate but it's still a good mold.

MP-01 can probably be found in sales threads though given how many reissues it had. It got reissued with and without a trailer by TakaraTomy, and Hasbro released him twice. Hell, I've got an old Hasbro release lying about I don't need anymore.

Big factor on Prime pricingwise is if you want the trailer or not. MP-01/Hasbro's have none, but the MP-04 rerelease and its ilk DO have trailers. MP-10 has a trailer as well on his releases.

As for the Megatron, he might be tricky to find; he hasn't had the same reissue quantity and is a bit polarizing as a mold (plus, the diecast rusts on him)

if you going for the true g1 feel in an mp,.. MP01 with the addition of third party trailer that opens up into the battle deck with roller etc,.. hasbro and takara never did produce an accurate one for the early MP line however as stated previously the cost will not be cheap for either (trailer being hard to find now) your best bang for buck is the smaller cheaper ( almost no metal or die cast at all) MP10

best option is wait for the YOTH mp10 optimus prime, if it's releasd from Hasbro, should be lower than 150.

With Masterpiece, you're looking at the premier line, so anything that has been out for a while, you are going to pay a lot for as most of these do NOT go down in value, ever.

MP Optimus, I agree with everyone else... if you want cheap, wait for the YOTH Prime that is coming out. If you want authentic or size in-line with MP05 Megatron, then you have to bite the bullet and get MP01 or MP04 (with the trailer).

Speaking of the MP05 Megatron, you're going to pay a bunch for him, period. He will never be re-released in Noth America because he is a gun, so everything is imports and that gets pricey. The current retail for his recent re-release from Takara is about $230USD plus shipping, so finding him from for $250 Canadian from guys like our friend, Nullray, is usually a deal because you'd pay more than $20 in shipping, exchange from USD to Canadian, and Customs.

I would also like to throw in that if you order Megs from the states you are going to get stuck with the orange tip glued in the end. Make sure to get it from a Canadian dealer because that law doesn't apply to Canada!

The orange tip just pops out, not even glued on unless they changed that in the last three years. That concerned me also, until I got him. And it just popped right off.
